JEN BRAVEMAN,
LCSW-C, LICSW, LCSW (she/her)
Interwoven Wellness Co-Founder, Owner, & Psychotherapist
Hi! My name is Jen, I use she/her pronouns and I’m a clinical social worker independently licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia and co-founder of Interwoven Wellness. Welcome!
I believe that within each of us, there is deep wisdom, compassion and courage that can guide us on a journey to living an authentic and fulfilling life. As a therapist, I provide space to heal, learn and grow through evidence based, creative and holistic methods. My goal is for you to feel heard, understood and empowered as you experience challenges and celebrate successes – and provide you with tools to feel better. Together, we will discover your strengths and create sustainable changes by knowing and honoring all the parts of your Self.
My clinical experience includes providing therapy to adults, teens, children and families, working with LGBTQ+ youth and adults; supporting parents of kids with complex special needs, new parents and parents of trans youth; and working with teens with social, emotional and behavioral challenges.
My areas of focus include:
LGBTQ+ Life Experiences
Spiritual or Existential Conflict
Identity Exploration & Identity-Related Stress
Relationships with Self & Others
Anxiety & Depression
Trauma
Life Transitions (e.g. divorce, career changes, life stages, perimenopause)
Grief & Loss
Fertility & Family Building
Low Self Esteem & Body Image
I received my MSW from Smith College School For Social Work and I have advanced training in Internal Family Systems (Levels 1 & 2), an evidence-based, somatic, trauma-informed therapy. I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, insight-oriented, cognitive-behavioral and narrative therapies, as well as mindfulness and polyvagal theory.
As a queer therapist, I have a special interest in supporting other queer folx and their loved ones. Whether you are exploring your gender and/or sexual identity, transitioning, coming out later in life or navigating significant relationships, I am here to support you on your journey. I provide groups and one on one counseling for parents of trans and gender diverse kids. I also work with people ages 16 years and older, who are neurospicy and neurotypical.
In addition to individual therapy, group therapy and parent counseling, I am State of Maryland Approved Supervisor for provisionally licensed social workers in Maryland and graduate students.
As your therapist, I consider myself a collaborator. My style is warm, compassionate, holistic, practical and tailored to each individual.
Wherever you are on your journey, I will meet you there. Truly, all are welcome!

Elise Gower, LMSW (she/her)
Interwoven Wellness Co-Founder & Licensed Master Social Worker
Under supervision with Jen Braveman, LCSW-C
Hello! I’m Elise and I use she/her pronouns. Our human stories hold the layered experiences that shape us and reveal our inner wisdom — even the ones that are hard to tell or that get distorted by others. Are there stories you've been carrying alone? Ones you feel ready to understand differently? Whatever brings you to therapy, here you are seen, heard, and have agency in your well-being and becoming.
I am a queer, cisgender, white therapist who found my way to social work through an interwoven career. With extensive experience in education, student and community development, and leadership formation, I center storytelling, collective antiracism work, and LGBTQ+ advocacy. I earned my MSW from Louisiana State University to weave these commitments. I support clients to explore interwoven identity, spirituality (in or beyond organized religion), and mental health as one, integrated story.
You are the expert of your own experience. I am here to accompany you, offer perspective, and ask questions that deepen self-exploration. Together, we’ll uncover your strengths and create tools to sustain the changes you seek. Therapy is not only for navigating life’s complexities. Let’s also nurture joy and creativity, make room for laughter, and savor moments of growth and alignment! I intentionally draw from multiple evidence-based practices, adapting them to fit your needs; no single method fits every person. Some of these approaches include:
Internal Family Systems (IFS): for greater self-compassion & internal peace
Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT): to emphasize relationships & cultural context
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT): to identify actions most aligned with your values
Mindfulness-Based Modalities: to notice & respond to thoughts/feelings with embodied freedom
Collaboratively, we will strengthen your confidence in meeting life’s challenges, and nurture a more authentic relationship with yourself and others. I am gentle and affirming and celebrate the diverse ways we — humans — move through this world.
